Kalmukia

Angel is Ilpo Väisänen (Pan sonic) and Dirk Dresselhaus (Schneider TM). w/ guest cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir (Lost In Hildurness). ‘Kalmukia’ is a vast epic, sprawling through guitar riffs spanning deep electronic canyons overlooked by a melocholic grey sky. A journey leading to discovery and a final mutation. All players delicately playing off each other creating a mesmerising work that sounds like nothing they have done before yet still retaining the audio signatures they have become known for.

die ANGEL (2022)

die ANGEL (or just ANGEL in the early days), the duo project of Ilpo Väisänen (ex-Pan sonic) & Dirk Dresselhaus aka Schneider TM, was born in 1999 during a joint European tour of Pan sonic and Schneider TM with the aim to (exclusively!) improvise with electronics, string instruments and effect loops to develop a sonic world that goes beyond fixed structures and clearly defined genres.
Coming from different musical backgrounds proved quite an advantage for the duo as it meant that they had to find their particular modus operandi: communication through noise and action, instant composition, spirit.
Over the course of over 2 decades now, die ANGEL crafted a catalogue of 11 albums released on labels like Editions Mego, Edition Telemark, Erototox Decodings or Karlrecords that were studio- or live-recordings of either the core duo or featured like-minded artists like cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir, Oren Ambarchi, Lucio Capece, BJ Nilsen or Faust drummer Werner “Zappi“ Diermaier and played numerous international headlining shows and festivals.
die ANGEL delve deep into the microcosms of tones, shaping nuanced layers of abstract sound that integrate elements of Musique Concrète, Minimal Music, Industrial, Noise, Blues and Psychedelia, and yet bear the unmistakable die ANGEL signature.
